Alumni Medical Form

Hey Fellow Alumni,

Ready for the 34th annual South High Marathon Dance?  It will be March 4th and 5th this year, and we hope you can all make it!  There are over 800 dancers signed up, and plenty of work for us to do to help them to make this year's dance a success!

Our "alumni lounge" will be in the wrestling room again this year.  We will have signs leading the way for those who need directions.  All Alumni will need to enter through the "Bulldog Entrance" at the far end of the back parking lot.  This year, Alumni registration will take place in the Old Gym.  Please bring a photo ID to sign-in due to new SHMD security measures.  You will also be able to update your contact info and buy this year's incredibly cool alumni shirt ($20.00).

There will be no parking available at the High School, along Merritt Road, Elmwood, or Oakwood. Plan to park at Tanglewood School and take the shuttle bus over.  Due to the huge number of alumni we are anticipating, try to carpool as much as possible to free up parking spaces. Buses will begin running close to 4:00 pm on Friday, and run for the duration of the dance.

We ask that you please bring two cases of bottled water.  Also, Project: Cameron's Story, is requesting new, quality children’s books.  For more information on this very worthy cause, see the Project: Cameron’s Story website:  http://www.projectcameronsstory.com.

We are looking for people who are anxious to sign up to help out!  Please contact the individuals listed next to the following tasks to sign-up:

Boys Check-in:  Email Tressa Jackson here

Girls Check-in:  Email Emily Hunt here

Costume Party Posts & Costume Party Clean-up:  Email Dani McMahon here

Girls Room Clean-up:  Email Jessica Nelson here

Boys Room Clean-up: Email Mark Stewart here

The SHMD video crew, headed by Josh Jacobs & Mike Howard, is seeking new participants. If you are looking for a way to volunteer your time, and have experience with imovie, U-Stream Pro, and/or Final Cut software, please email us here.

The stage team is also looking for help. The crew is currently short handed on lighting operators and people who can handle computer tasks such as message generation and song management. If you are interested, please contact Kelly Woodin here or you can find her on facebook (Kelly Woodin aka Kelly Spice).

If there are any male alumni who have emergency service(s) experience who are interested in being an EMS runner for the duration of the dance., please contact Tressa at here.

Opening ceremonies are at 7:00 pm.  Due to the number of dancers, Alumni will no longer be able to stand in the middle of the gym during the opening ceremonies.  Alumni may sit 2 deep in front of the spectator bleachers in the new bleachers, in the Old Gym or in the LGI.  Our first alumni meeting will be in the auditorium immediately following the close of these ceremonies.  Please do NOT bring any food, drink, or personal belongings into the auditorium.  It has been completely redone, and the school is allowing us to hold our meetings there, as long as we respect their wishes.

Due to the large (record) number of dancers, dancing with the students should be kept to a minimum for safety reasons.  Along the same lines, during the closing ceremonies, alumni will not be able to sit on the floor with dancers.  We kindly ask you to find a seat in the bleachers, the Old Gym, or the LGI.  We understand that these changes might be difficult, however, with the excessive number of students, there is simply no room on the gym floor when all students are assembled.

In conclusion, please remember why we are at the dance.  This event is about helping people.  We are all expected to act in a manner that the school and community can be proud of.  Keep in mind that children, parents, and grandparents will be in attendance.  Please do not do anything that will offend anyone. We are all expected to abide by the Code of Conduct, and must use common sense at all times.  The South High Marathon Dance has an amazing legacy of helping wonderful people and bringing our community together.  Let's do our part to uphold that legacy.  The eyes of the entire area and beyond will be upon us... let's show them just how incredible SHMD is!

See you March 4th!

~Tressa, Melissa, and Nadine

Class of '10....

The most frequently asked alumni question, answered:

No, there is no formal "alumni sign-up" system. If you would like to return as an alumni, and lend your support, you need simply to show up. We ask, upon arrival, that you register with brief medical info and any donation you'd like to make. We do not require donations, but, this is Marathon, so they are highly encouraged! Throughout the dance, you are free to come and go as you please, with the exception of during the overnight lock-down. There is always something to do, someone that needs help, and some new friend to make!
